Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, Visits Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple
On the morning of 26 May 2026, His Royal Highness Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, paid an official visit to the Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple.
Upon his arrival, The Duke was formally received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Dr. Derrick Anderson. He was welcomed by Dr. Kanagratnam, Chairman of the Temple, along with the temple's trustees, priests, and volunteers.

During his visit, His Royal Highness toured the temple's main shrine, where he was honoured in accordance with traditional customs and presented with a ceremonial temple shawl. He also visited the temple's newly constructed Dining Hall, which will play an important role in supporting the temple's community and charitable activities.
As part of the occasion, The Duke planted a commemorative tree within the temple grounds, symbolising growth, sustainability, and the enduring connection between communities. He also addressed those gathered at the temple, sharing his appreciation for the temple's contribution to faith, culture, community service, and social cohesion in the region.
The visit marked a significant and memorable occasion for the temple and its devotees, highlighting the important role the Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple continues to play within the wider community.
